Howard University College of Pharmacy Center of Excellence is pleased to announce the 2026 Pre-Pharmacy Student Training & Education Pipeline 2 Program (PHARM STEP 2). A FREE, immersive, three-week summer program designed to academically challenge and prepare students for success in pharmacy school. The program will be held on-site at Howard University, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, May 18–June 5, 2026. Please note, active participants will receive a stipend.
PHARM STEP 2 is specifically designed for rising juniors and seniors from racial and ethnic groups underrepresented in the health professions and students from low-income or underserved backgrounds who have a strong interest in pursuing pharmacy as a career. Students will benefit from academic enrichment, professional development, and mentorship from experienced clinical pharmacy and industry professionals.
Eligibility Requirements include:

U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident
Rising junior or senior
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Completion of or current enrollment in Organic Chemistry I
Strong interest in pharmacy and professional mentorship
Submission of three letters of recommendation, transcript, and résumé

🔹 Biographical Information – Belay Mengiste Gebremariam
Greetings, dear colleagues,

My name is Belay Mengiste Gebremariam, and I am honored to be part of the Ethio Science Academy. I am a highly motivated MSc candidate in Geomatics at Debre Markos University (DMU), where I currently maintain a GPA of 3.88. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Land Administration and Surveying from the same university in July 2022, graduating with a CGPA of 3.84. My academic excellence earned me a place on the President Ambassador List of 2022, and I was also recognized as one of the highest-scoring graduates of the year.

I will be tutoring Afaan Oromoo for Grades 7 and 8, and Environmental Science for Grades 5 and 6. I am passionate about creating an engaging, inclusive learning experience, especially by connecting classroom content with real-world knowledge in language, culture, and environmental awareness.

This tutoring is conducted via e-learning, and I am highly familiar with digital platforms such as Zoom Meet and Google Meet, as I am currently pursuing my MSc through online learning. I regularly attend advanced lectures and seminars delivered by senior scientists and professors from Europe, which has strengthened both my technical and virtual communication skills.

With two years of experience in teaching, tutoring, and academic consultancy, I’ve worked in schools such as Gibson School System and BeteSeb Academy, as well as through private tutoring. My teaching philosophy emphasizes clarity, interaction, and student empowerment.

I also have significant field experience in surveying and environmental analysis, including:

1 year as a surveyor at Abebe Fite General Contractor

1 year as an assistant surveyor at Fetene, Getahun & Friends

1 year as a senior surveyor at Woldesillassie Beyecha Construction

6 months as a survey consultant for urban planning projects
